The Italian Open 2024 is a men’s and women's tennis event called the Rome Masters or the Internazionali BNL d'Italia because of sponsorship. The Internazionali BNL d'Italia will play on the outdoor clay court at the Foro Italico in Rome, Italy.

At the beginning of 2020, the tournament was scheduled for May 11 to 17, 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was rescheduled a week before the French Open 2020.

The previous year the Mutua Madrid Open was canceled due to the recurrence of virus cases in Spain, and the ATP schedule was changed in 2020 August. The organizers had to push the tournament one week as planned and reschedule the game for September 14-21, 2020.

Italian Open is the 81 edition of the event and is part of the Tour Masters 1000 tournament in the ATP & WTA Tour 2024.

In the year 2020, Novak Djokovic won the Men’s singles title, and Simona Halep won the Women’s singles title. The 2021 men's singles winner was Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek was the women's singles champion.

 

2024 Italian Open Format 

In the main draw, there will be a combined total of 56 players competing in the singles category for men and women. The first round consists of 48 players battling it out, while the remaining eight in each draw receive a first-round bye. Moving on to the second round, 24 of the 48 players in the opening round will join the eight that received byes, and the knockout system will apply thereafter.

The draws' highest-ranking eight seeds receive automatic byes.

The qualifying rounds will feature 28 male players, with only seven earning a coveted spot in the main draw. Meanwhile, the women's draw will have 32 participants vying for just eight main draw positions.
